North East lad, Manik Paul, wins ‘India’s Got Talent’ season 6

The journey of India’s Got Talent – 6 came to an end after the stupendous Grand Finale. Manik Paul from Assam is declared as India’s Got Talent Winner.

Along with the trophy, Manik Paul walked away with Rs.5,000,000 and a Maruti Suzuki Celerio car after he looped his way to victory in the finale of the popular TV show`s sixth season. He was announced the winner based on audience votes. The voting line were opened for 20 minutes from 9 p.m. onwards on Saturday.

Manik Paul, a 22-year-old self taught gymnast, came on India’s Got Talent for his mother and finally fulfilled his dream.His desire to gift the award to his mother made the impossible thing possible today. He turned emotional after the win, saying that he wants to buy a home for his mother with the `50-lakh prize money he won along with a Maruti Celerio car.

“My mother is my inspiration. She is the reason I have put in hard work. I have seen her struggle since I was five and now want to make her life easy,” said Paul, who spent most of his childhood and teenage years battling utter poverty after his father passed away at a young age. He now wants to start an aerial gymnastic institute for underprivileged children. Ever since the show’s season 6 started in April, Paul has regaled with his athletic and graceful moves on the India’s Got Talent stage. His skills particularly won him an admirer in choreographer-filmmaker Remo D’Souza, whose latest film ABCD 2 is drawing full houses right now.

* Our earlier post reports Manik as from Arunachal. It has been now confirmed that he is from Assam. Some medias are reporting that Manik Paul is from Arunachal Pradesh, while some NE medias are reporting that he is from Assam. And there are some medias which states he is from Kolkata.
