Aparajita Rai makes Sikkim proud, becomes the first female IPS officer from Sikkim

Gangtok, Nov 4: 28-year old Aparajita Rai makes her state and her late parents proud as she is appointed the first woman IPS officer of Sikkim. Daughter of late Gyanendra Rai and Roma Rai, Aparajita cracked UPSC exams both in 2011 and 2012.

She ranked 358th in the UPSC exams of 2012 and was allocated the IPS cadre. Her callibre showed true colours as she won various prestigious trophies such as 1958 Batch IPS officers’ Trophy for the best Lady Outdoor Probationer, Shri Umesh Chandra Trophy for Field Combat, the 55th Batch of Senior Course Officers Trophy for Best Turn Out, and West Bengal Govt Trophy for Bengali.

With an impeccable record throughout her academic career, Aparajita is a 2009 BA LLB (Hons) graduate from the WB National University of Juridical Sciences. She earned herself a gold medal in Jurisprudence and Public International Law. She is now posted in Hoogly in West Bengal

Two Sikkim Daughters Makes State Proud

Aparajita Rai (29) and Yangchen Dolkar Bhutia (27) will be completing IPS training on this Friday from Sardar Vallabhai Patel National Academy, Hyderabad.

Aparajita Rai has joined West Bengal Cadre while Yangchen is posted in Meghalaya.
They cracked UPSC in 2013, they are Two Sikkim’s daughter in history to do so!

1. Aparajita is from Zoom Village, West Sikkim. Parents : Gyanendra and Roma Rai. Schooling TNA, Higher Edu : National University of Judicial Sciences, Kolkata.

2. Yangchen is from Lower Pelling, West Sikkim. Parents : Tenzing Gyatso and Lhamu Doma. Schooling : Kyi-De-Khang, TNA. Higher Edu : Degree in Psychology from gargi College, New Delhi.
