1.KAZIRANGA NATIONAL PARK

Kaziranga National Park is a world heritage site and one of the most famous wildlife parks in the country. Tourists from across the world visits the park every year. It hosts two thirds of the world’s population of the one horned Rhinoceros. Kaziranga also has world’s largest population of Asiatic wild water buffalo and eastern swamp deers

Kaziranga is also the home various floras and faunas. Tigers, Elephants and about 35 other species of mammals together with various species of birds enjoys the beautiful grasslands of the park. It covers about 470 square kilometer in two districts namely Nagaon and Golaghat.

Kaziranga is a must visit place for everyone who visits Assam or the North-east.

2.MANAS NATIONAL PARK

Located at the foothill of the mighty Himalayas, Manas National Park is an abode for adventurers or  a peaceful family trip. Manas National Park is another world heritage site which is famous for its Project Tiger and the wild water Buffalo. Manas also consists of an elephant reserve and a biosphere reserve.

Manas is a home for about 55 species of mammals, 380 species of birds, 50 species of reptiles, and 3 species of amphibians.

Manas covers around an area of 950 square kilometer across five districts of Assam namely Kokrajhar, Chirang, Udalguri, Baksa and Darrang.

Manas has beautiful views and a lot to provide. It is a go to destination for wildlife lovers.

3.DIBRU- SAIKHOWA NATIONAL PARK

Dibru-saikhowa national park is another wildlife junction located in Assam. It is termed as a biosphere reserve. The beauty of the park is incomparable.

The park covers an area of about 350 square kilometer spread across the Tinisukia and Dibrugarh districts of Assam. It is also the largest salix swamp forest in the north east India.

With the Brahmaputra and the Lohit (tributary of Brahmaputra) bounding the park, it is rich in the fish diversity. The park is also the home for the rare white-winged wood duck together with various other animals and birds.

Dibru-Saikhowa National park is place you will not want to miss.

4.POBITORA WILDLIFE SANCTUARY

Pobitora wildlife sanctuary is situated at the outskirts of Guwahati, the gateway of north-eastern India. It is the place to visit if you are planning a short weekend trip.

Pobitora is famous for its population of thr one horned Rhinoceros. However Pobitora also consists of other animals like Leopards, Wild boar, Barking deer, Wild buffalos etc. Pobitora also serves as a home for over 2000 migratory bird and various reptiles.

Pobitora covers an area of nearly 38 square kilometer and is situated in the Morigaon district of the state. It is only an hour drive to Pobitora from Guwahati.

5.NAMERI NATIONAL PARK

Nameri National park is located at the Sonitpur district of Assam. The national park is adjoined to the Pakhui Tiger Reserve of Arunachal Pradesh. Both of these parks covers a total area of about 1000 square kilometers. Nameri alone covers nearly 200 sqaure kilometers.

Nameri National Park has scenic beauty and is a good place to visit as it is located at the foothill of the eastern Himalayas. The park is the home for various animals like Tiger, Leopard,Sambar, Dhole (the Asiatic wild dog), Pygmy Hog, Muntjac, Gaur, Wild Boar, Sloth Bear, Himalayan Black Bear, Capped langur and Indian Giant Squirell. Some of the species of birds in the park are  White winged wood duck, Great Pied Hornbill, Wrethed Hornbill, Rufuos Necked Hornbill, Black Stork, Ibis Bill, Blue Bearded Bee- Eaters, Babblers and Plovers. The park also is rich in its flora.
